Run Wang, MD, FACS

Dr. Run Wang is the Professor of Surgery (Urology) and Cecil M. Crigler, MD Chair in Urology at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, Texas, USA. He is also the Professor of Urology and Director of Sexual Medicine in the Department of Urology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and previously served as the Chief of Urology at the Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital in Houston, Texas, USA. Dr. Wang holds honorary/concurrent/visiting professorships in numerous national and international universities. He is the secretary general for the World Chinese Urological Society and the President-elect for the Sexual Medicine Society of North America.

Dr. Wang received his medical degree from the Southeast University Medical College in China. He completed his urology residency at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia, USA and Andrology/ Sexual Dysfunction Fellowship at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. He is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons and board certified in Urology. He is a member in many professional societies.

Dr. Wang has authored 126 articles and chapters in peer-reviewed journals and books. He served as a co-editor, guest editor, associate editor, editorial member and reviewer for many medical and research journals. Dr. Wang is also elected as the board member, committee chair and congress president/chair in various societies and scientific meetings. He served as a panelist for WHO sponsored Consultations in Sexual Medicine in 2009 and is selected to be a member in 2015.

Dr. Wang’s research interests are male sexual function, benign prostate hyperplasia, and erectile dysfunction as a result of prostate cancer treatment, penile rehabilitation and male infertility. His current basic research activities include stem cell gene therapy with nanotechnology for erectile dysfunction after radical prostatectomy and vacuum therapy for Peyronie’s disease in animal model.
