Jun-Kyu Suh, MD, PhD

Jun-Kyu Suh is Professor of Urology and Director of National Research Center for Sexual Medicine at the Inha University Hospital, Incheon, Korea. He received his M.D. in 1977 at the Yonsei University , Seoul, Korea, and then joined the Yonsei University Hospital Seoul to complete residencies in the Departments of Urology.

Prof. Suh has been a member of several scientific societies including the American Urological Association, International Society for Vascular Biology and International Societies for Sexual Medicine. He has been the Past-President of Vascular Science and Medicine and Korean Andrological Society.

Prof. Suh has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers on sexual medicine field. He, as the Director of National Research Center for Sexual Medicine is currently focusing his researches more on the therapeutic angiogenesis of the penis and the development of future therapeutics in erectile dysfunction and Peyronie’s disease. One of those are shown on his recent paper, entitled “Inhibition of ninjurin 1 restores erectile function through dual angiogenic and neurotrophic effects in the diabetic mouse”, published on PNAS, 2014 1:111:2731-40.

He was awarded the best prize on the 2007 and 2011 ESSM meeting for his pioneering works on preclinical studies in male sexual dysfunction. He also received lifetime achievement award from Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare in 2013 for his innovative research works in the field of life science.
