Prof. Chuanliang Xu, is the director of department of Urology, Changhai hospital. Prof. Xu graduated from Second Military Medical University and received his Ph.D of Urology in 2002. In 2003, he studied in the University Hospital Charité, Humboldt University Berlin as a postdoctoral fellowship. He is currently the deputy leader of Branch of Continence Group in the Chinese Medical Association, the vice president of Chinese Urogenital Association of China International Exchange and Promotive Association for Medical and Health Care, the vice president of Shanghai Urological Association, and member of the Standing Committee and general secretary of Urology Association of Chinese People's Liberation Army.

Prof. Xu currently runs a research group in Changhai Hospital. They have been dedicated to the translational application of molecular biology to bladder cancer. Xu's particular interest is investigating biomarkers for early diagnosis of bladder cancer. His current researches are funded by “863” grant, NSFC and Shanghai Municipal Health Bureau with more than 5 million RMB. He has published more than 70 English articles on peer reviewed journals collected by the Science Citation Index and got 7 patents for inventions. Prof. Xu is the member of editorial board for four Chinese journals and the Translational Andrology and Urology.

He, as a main researcher, won the second class award of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award in 2007 and the class award of Shanghai Scientific and Technological Progress Award in 2006.
