Faysal A. Yafi, MD, FRCSC

Dr. Yafi earned his medical degree from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon in 2005 after completing his undergraduate degree in Biology at the same institution in 2001. He then served his internship in General Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the American University of Beirut in 2006 before transferring to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota where he completed a year of preliminary surgery in the Department of Surgery in 2007. He subsequently completed a two-year research fellowship in the Biology and Therapy of Bladder Cancer in the Division of Urology at McGill University in Montreal, Canada in 2009. He subsequently completed his residency in Urology at McGill University in 2014, receiving the Division of Urology Outstanding Resident/Fellow Teacher of the Year Award in 2014. He is currently in the second year of his fellowship in Andrology at Tulane University, where he also serves as Clinical Instructor of Urology.

Dr. Yafi is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (Urology). He has previously served as chairman of the Northeastern Section of the AUA Residents Committee and member of the AUA Residents Committee. He is currently a member of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America Young Clinicians Committee and also serves on the Société Internationale d’Urologie Academy Infertility/Men’s Health Sub-committee as an expert consultant. He has received multiple awards and recognitions, from the American Urological Association, the Canadian Urological Association, and the Sexual Medicine Society of North America, amongst others. Dr. Yafi has an avid interest in both basic and clinical research, with over 40 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. His areas of focus include Peyronie’s disease, erectile dysfunction, androgen replacement therapy, prosthetic surgery (inflatable penile prosthesis and artificial urinary sphincter), male infertility, and urethral reconstruction, and has been awarded multiple national and international research grants.
